A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to tone and style a new, special friend of mines hair. If you’ve been in the salon for any amount of time, you know conversations get good! This sweet friend of mine stopped me and said, “Maggie, has what you’ve gone through made your relationship with God stronger? If so was there a turning point?”
I froze. I kind of laughed almost, sometimes I tend to cope with humor.
That question kind of scared me.
I don’t know if it was more the question or my answer.
I knew the answer but I didn’t want to say it. I started with, “Definitely, there was several moments.” With a huge smile on my face trying to hide the sadness, guilt, and shame.
She kept genuinely asking questions and finally I vulnerably stated, “It was almost dying, that was my turning point.”
I don’t know why that answer scared me so much In the moment, because it was 100% true.
I had to be on the edge of losing my life to build a relationship with God.
I fully believe God used my pain for power. I wouldn’t be at the place I am now with Him if it wasn’t for that I’m sure.
Do I think you have to go through something ‘super serious’ to have a relationship with God? Absolutely not!
Do I think you should wait until walls crumble around you to be convinced you need God in your life?
Absolutely not!
But, I think when you are faced with trials God can use certain circumstances to bring you to Him.
God tells us we WILL go through trials, but they will be for good.
God does everything with purpose.
Your life is for a purpose.
You have a purpose.
